Long Live the Barbeque

It’s always amazing to me how, of all the people in the world- all the cultures, languages, traditions, foods- some things are universal. Like the barbeque...

On Sunday, Miguel and I were invited to one such soirée, where we spent time with friends/family (there is a long, complicated story there), relaxing and enjoying great food.

For lunch, we ate grilled chicken, cabbage made with bacon (I guess it’s traditional Portuguese), rice, sweet potatoes, salad, and boerewors (South African sausage). The food didn’t get photographed because I was famished and in no mood for artistry.

After lunch, some played cards, some talked, while others played video games.

Snoozing.
Speed. Such a fun game.

No barbeque is complete without a dog to clean up the mess. This is Delta.
And then we played with babies.

Hugo. Possibly the cutest, chubbiest baby ever.
Sexy husband.
The barbeque always has this way of bringing people together. It was an awesome day spent with great people that I now have the privilege to call friends/family.

Viva o churrasco.
Viva la barbacoa.
Vive le barbeque.
Long live the barbeque/braai.
